After a few days of getting used to kde, I find I prefer it to gnome. I found it was not that different, and thus an easy switch to make. The toolbars are way more customizable... that was the clincher for me.

I like the eye-candy of KDE. I especially love that it's very easy on the eyes, the fonts are very nice, and I love amarok. That program really clinched it for me. And the kcontrol apperance options. Okay, lots of stuff actually. Gnome just looks, sorry, boring to me.
KDE is definitely a power-user desktop environment. Since it uses shared libraries, it can run more efficiently than Gnome. Compiz runs a little nicer on Gnome though.
